April 2025 Consumer Credit: Trends at a Glance

April 2025 Key Insights: The Latest Consumer Credit Trends 

Through December 2024 consumer originations rose year-over-year across several lending categories, but the card products were lower year-over-year.¹

As of February 2025, outstanding mortgage and revolving consumer debt continue to climb year-over-year, while non-revolving has slowed.²

As of February 2025, non-mortgage consumer debt outstanding has increased for auto, bankcards and personal loans year-over-year. Student loans and private label cards continue to be lower.²

February 2025 saw utilization decrease slightly for an increased bankcard credit limit. Home equity metrics continue to increase, while private label card metrics are mixed.²

February 2025 delinquencies for auto and mortgage increased year-over-year, confirming continued consumer stress. Bankcard and personal loans improved year-over-year.²
