The 2025 Equifax Security Annual Report has officially been released, marking our sixth consecutive year of sharing our unwavering commitment to security with the world. At Equifax, we operate under a core belief: more communication, collaboration, and transparency lead to stronger collective security.

As we navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape, this latest report highlights how we are leveraging innovation—specifically Artificial Intelligence—to stay ahead of evolving threats.

The Scale of the Challenge

The sheer volume of hostile activity in the digital space is staggering. In 2025, Equifax blocked an average of 19.8 million cyber threats each day. This equates to nearly 230 hostile attempts every second, representing a 30% increase from the previous year.

To meet this challenge, our global team of over 400 dedicated cybersecurity professionals works around the clock to protect consumer data. Our commitment to rapid response is reflected in our performance metrics, including a one-minute mean time to detect cyber threats.

Innovation at the Speed of Security

A common misconception in business is that rigorous security measures must slow down innovation. Our 2025 results prove otherwise. For the sixth consecutive year, we brought over 100 new product innovations securely to market, with over 180 new innovations created in 2025 alone.

Our security posture is further validated by:

  • Independent Benchmarking: For the sixth year in a row, our NIST Cybersecurity Framework score of 4.4 outperformed all major industry benchmarks.

  • Industry Leadership: Our security posture score exceeded the averages for both the Technology and Financial Services industries for the fifth consecutive year.

  • External Validation: We obtained 52 certifications and authorizations from outside auditors, demonstrating the depth and rigor of our program.

Navigating the Intersection of Security and AI

Artificial Intelligence is a double-edged sword in cybersecurity, and our 2025 report details how we are addressing it from three critical angles:

1. Using AI to Enhance Our Defenses

We are integrating AI to make our security operations more efficient. For example, we have auto-resolved approximately 50% of Security Operations Center tickets through automation and specialized AI triage. Additionally, an AI advisory assistant has helped cut internal security architecture consultation times by 61%.

2. Securing the Use of AI Across the Business

As our teams adopt AI, we ensure they do so safely. We have implemented an agnostic control layer designed to sanitize both prompts and responses. Furthermore, our AI controls remain strictly aligned with the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.

3. Defending Against AI-Driven Threats

We are actively defending against sophisticated new attacks, including successfully intercepting and blocking live deepfake attacks targeting our leadership. We also use adaptive defenses to catch evasive AI malware that might bypass traditional security filters.

A Culture of Security

Technology is only part of the equation; a strong security culture is vital. In 2025, we launched over 240,000 simulations to test our global workforce. Additionally, more than 22,000 employees and contractors completed personalized security modules, with the difficulty of these simulations increasing to mirror the actual evolution of the threat environment.

Transparency remains at the heart of what we do. By completing over 3,700 customer questionnaires and participating in more than 35 global forums to share intelligence, we continue to reinforce confidence in our security posture and strengthen collaborative defenses across the industry.
