Peg Elofson is a Senior Manager in the Appellate division of Equifax Workforce Solutions- Claims Operations. Peg is responsible for the Unemployment Hearing Consultants out of our St. Louis, MO, and Hilliard, OH offices. Her Unemployment Hearing Consultants prepare our clients to participate in unemployment hearings through in-depth discussions about what to expect during the hearings and how to present evidence and testimony in pursuit of winning cases. Peg has more than 16 years of experience in the unemployment industry, with particular focus in unemployment appeals and hearings. Her experience in the industry includes account management, hearing representation, and Board of Review appeals. Peg’s favorite tasks have always involved communicating with our clients, potential clients, and employees about unemployment hearings. She has extensive experience helping our clients learn more about protecting their tax position through participation in hearings. She understands how intimidating the process can be, and wants to ensure that our clients are armed with the best possible information. Peg writes Briefly for our Insights Blog. She offers in-depth analysis of real unemployment cases (with all names omitted to protect the innocent and not-so-innocent). Briefly includes the facts of the case, a summary of what occurred during the hearing, a recap of the decisions made in the case, analysis of why the decisions were made, and also offers some lessons learned from the case. Peg has also been involved in the development and presentation of Mock Hearings for our clients with an aim toward giving the audience a good idea about what happens during a real unemployment hearing. Those cases have covered many subjects, including discharges for drugs and alcohol, inappropriate behavior, and social media posts. Peg joined Equifax through the acquisition of TALX Corporation in 2007. She holds BSBA and JD degrees from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. In her spare time, Peg enjoys traveling, hiking, bicycling, cooking, music, movies, and hanging out with her husband and their Very Best Dog. If Peg had to choose a happy place, it would have to be Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. It’s the most beautiful place she’s ever seen. (And there are moose!) Peg is a devoted fan of her Creighton Bluejays and the Chicago Cubs. She places the blame for her Cubs fandom squarely on the shoulders of her mother and grandmother, and fears it’s become genetic.
