How Equifax Helps Drive Innovation in HR: Insights Shared at SHRM22

June 30, 2022

THE HUMAN RESOURCES PROFESSION IS BURSTING WITH INNOVATION – as evidenced by this year’s Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) Annual Conference and Expo in New Orleans – where industry leaders, influencers and changemakers gathered to share insights and best practices for making a positive impact on the workplace. Experts from Equifax Workforce Solutions had a strong presence at SHRM with a CONNECT networking event, live demos at its exhibition booth and a speaker session on the “Top 5 Risky Onboarding and Employee Forms Myths.”

Karen Loiterstein, Employer Services Marketing Leader at Equifax Workforce Solutions, shares highlights and key takeaways from the conference in a Q&A.

What did you take away from #SHRM22?

KL: SHRM provides great opportunities to interact with and learn from analysts, industry experts and most importantly, our clients, who are all paving the way forward in the HR industry. And there is no shortage of innovation in this space!

Overall, I walked away with two clear messages:

  1. HR has always dealt with changing regulations, but they’re coming much faster, at higher volumes, and most importantly, with greater consequences for non-compliance – especially if you operate in multiple states.

  2. With so many jobs to fill and so much competition for talent, every element of the employee experience – from pre- to active to post-employment – can be either a differentiator or a disqualifier.

What are some of the biggest blind spots you’re seeing in the industry today and how did this play out at SHRM22?

KL: While the term “Employer Brand” is well known, many employers think of it only in terms of new and current employees. But savvy HR leaders also grasp the importance of ensuring their employees have an outstanding experience even as they are leaving the company. A well-executed offboarding process ensures a smooth transition for both the company and the departing employee, who may become a future referral source, business partner or even “boomerang” employee if treated professionally and respectfully. That’s where Equifax Workforce Solutions can help.

During SHRM22, Equifax announced the launch of its new Offboarding Forms solution to help further streamline forms management throughout the entire employee lifecycle. We heard a lot about onboarding at SHRM22, and I think we’re going to hear a lot more about offboarding in the months ahead, as Equifax paves the way with its industry-first solution.

While at the conference, I had the opportunity to sit down with William Tincup, host of the Recruiting Daily Podcast, to discuss offboarding complexities and the importance of implementing a documented offboarding program to help
HR teams manage the exit experience consistently and confidently. You can listen to my episode of the Recruiting Daily Podcast now!

What are some of the biggest opportunities you’re seeing in HR?

KL: HR leaders have a great opportunity to leverage technology to reduce their administrative burden. For complicated processes like Affordable Care Act (ACA) management, Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) screening, employee onboarding or unemployment benefits, HR teams can be left scrambling to do them at all – much less to do them all correctly. When HR leaders leverage the right technology, they can keep up with the fast-changing workplace – easily managing remote workers while building a better, more connected employee experience.
