Debt Wise is an exciting new product from Equifax designed to help you take the first step towards getting out of debt — having a plan. Debt Wise isn't a debt consolidation tool or a budget tracker; instead, it pulls information from your Equifax Credit Report™ so that you can create a plan for paying off your debts. By sticking to the plan you create, you may be able to pay off your debts faster — and possibly save lots of money in interest!

How does it work?
At the heart of Debt Wise is your Fast Pay Plan: a personalized debt payoff plan you can follow to pay down your debts. If you make payments according to your plan, you may even be able to pay off your debts more quickly, which could mean big savings in interest. How does it work? Well, that's where the Fast Pay Plan Wizard comes in. The Fast Pay Plan Wizard imports the debts (such as credit cards, loans, etc.) that are on your Equifax Credit Report.™ You choose which debts you want to include in your plan, and you can also include debts that do not appear on your credit report. That means that you can have your plan set up in as little as 10 minutes! Once you complete the necessary information, Debt Wise determines an optimal order in which you could pay off your debts and then applies a payment strategy known as “debt stacking” to help you see how you can pay your debts off faster. Debt Wise offers so much more than the ability to create your personalized debt payoff plan. It also helps you know if you're on or off plan, the exact date you'll be debt free if you stick to your plan and don't incur additional debts, when you've paid off an account, as well as alerting you to any key changes in your Equifax credit file and more!

• Fast Pay Plan Wizard: In just a few simple clicks, the Fast Pay Plan Wizard lets you create a plan to pay off your debts faster. With “debt stacking” you'll continue to make the same total monthly payments even as you pay off some of your debts. This means that you will have additional amounts to apply to each account targeted in your plan. Over time, following this strategy will save you money and get you out of debt more quickly. And you won't pay a penny more towards your debts than you already are.
• Alerts: Debt Wise allows you to set a number of alerts customized to your needs. It alerts you whether you are on or off plan, as well as to key changes to your Equifax credit file including balance change alerts and dormant credit card activity alerts. You can even choose to receive wireless alerts on your cell phone!
• Plan Progress: Even though you receive alerts to help keep you aware of your Debt Wise plan status, you can also access your Plan Progress at any time online. Keep in mind that it can take time (30 days or more) for creditors to report updated account information to Equifax, and your status may be “pending” until this information is received.
