Head of Financial Services, Client Analytics Team
Been with Equifax for six years
The best thing about Equifax is definitely the people, who are always willing to make time to point you in the right direction or help to answer any questions you have. That struck me when I first joined the company and I'm still very conscious of it today.
I joined six years ago, as a Senior Analyst within the Client Analytics function of Equifax. Having worked for a bank previously, I was attracted to the role by the huge variety of work and being exposed to wide range of clients and industries.
Within the Consulting, Analytics and Solutions function itself, there are a number of teams. We are all intermingled within the office floor, which gives you even further exposure to what others outside of your team are working on and building those relationships really helps with cross team collaboration.
I'm now responsible for all clients that sit within our Financial Services vertical; this includes some banks, building societies, motor finance, debt sector and payday lending. There is no typical day is this role. I spend a lot of time talking to our clients about how we can support and generate value for their business through analytics and our data. An in depth understanding of the client's business model and strategy is required to develop the optimal solution for them. At the moment I'm speaking to a number of clients about re-developing their credit scoring solutions.
I also spend time managing the work of my team. We will be working on a number of projects at any one time, so I will review the analytical work being performed for each client, ensuring we are on schedule to delivering to the high standards our clients expect from us. Working in a consulting environment, like ours, enables you to get involved in a wide variety of projects and really develop your knowledge. It's certainly provided me with excellent opportunities and challenges. It's also helped me develop as an individual and progress in my career. Two years after I joined I became a Consultant and two years after that I was promoted to this role. My progress has happened at the right pace and I'm happy with it.
A memorable moment in my career was just before being promoted to this role in 2011. I won the Chairman's Circle of Excellence Award for my analytical work with one of the big banks. Specifically, it was in recognition of how I'd developed the relationship and created opportunities to support their business further. Equifax is very good at recognising and celebrating achievements, but there's also a lot of satisfaction to be had from providing clients with solutions that add value to their business and support their success. Every project we work on is looking to enhance a client's ability to optimise their performance.
Because of the vast range of industries it works with, Equifax offers a unique opportunity to broaden experience in credit risk and learn how a bureau can support the success of a business; I don't think there is a better environment to do this across the whole of the industry.
