Rick Smith is chairman and chief executive officer of Equifax Inc. Headquartered in Atlanta, Equifax is a $2.4 billion global company (NYSE: EFX) focused on driving growth through a talented and innovative team that delivers new products and solutions for customers around the world. Equifax is one of the largest sources of consumer and commercial information in the world, using differentiated data, advanced analytics and enabling technologies to create customized insights that enrich both the performance of businesses as well as the lives of consumers.
Prior to joining Equifax, Smith spent 22 years with GE holding several President and CEO roles across numerous businesses including Engineering Thermoplastics, Asset Management, Leasing and Insurance Solutions. Smith was appointed an officer of GE in 1999.
In May 2010, Smith was inducted into Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College ‘Business Hall of Fame.’ He was the 2009 chairman of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce and now serves on its board of directors and executive committee. He was the 2013 chairman of the Atlanta Committee for Progress where he is a current board member, and also serves on the board of directors for the Commerce Club. Smith is co-chairman of the Atlanta Super Bowl Bid Committee –2019, and is a member of the executive board of Southern Methodist University’s Cox School of Business. He is also chairman of The Lovett School governance committee in Atlanta and serves on its board of trustees. Smith currently serves as director of the Operation HOPE global board, and is a trustee for The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. He is a former director of the YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta, a former trustee for the Woodruff Arts Center, and former chairman of The Lovett School’s strategic planning committee.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.
