Investigative Services
How can I further investigate a business to learn more about them?
If you need more information than is contained in a full credit report or need to verify or
update certain information relating to your customer such as banking details Equifax investigative services can help.
Most requests for a Canadian commercial credit report can normally be fulfilled from the Equifax database.
However in some cases new businesses or businesses who are not normal seekers of trade credit may not have all
the information in file that you need to make a sound credit decision. In these cases, subscribers can ask Equifax to
develop a Full Investigative Report, contact a single reference, obtain a bank report or research the company’s corporate
records.
Services offered:
- Full Investigative Report – Up-to-date research that includes verifications from three trade payment sources,
a bank report plus an interview with the business principal.
- Single Item Report – When you need information updated or verified, we will contact the individual trade
reference, bank reference, courthouse or the principal of the subject business.
- Corporate Searches – up-to-date reports that provide information on businesses incorporated Provincially
or at the Federal level.
- Principal Interview – We will contact a company spokesperson and ask for key business details or your
specific questions. You choose whether to be identified as the requestor during the interview.
- Specialty Reports & Services – We also provide US Full investigative reports as well as Farm reports which include a land description.
A team of trained reporters quickly processes all requests. Equifax guarantees 72-hour delivery on most investigative
reports or they are free. However, the majority of requests are completed within 24 hours.
